Poor old Jimmy Wales (founder of Wikipedia) has found himself in a somewhat testing position by virtue of doing what so many men do
when they want to dump a girlfriend. He took what he thought was the easy way out and used technology.
He posted his split on Wikipedia and made it clear that his relationship with Political strategist and marketer Rachel Marsden was at an end.
Jimmy learned what many men learn in this situation - should have told her himself…
Rachel posted his sweatshirt and t-shirt on eBay (the t-shirt has reached $12000 at the time of writing this!), and has made her feelings about him perfectly clear.
It seems that Ms Marsden has a history of tumultuous relationships in the past, with no fewer than four accusations made by her against men that she has been connected with. It seems that Ms Marsden is either extremely unlucky in her life with regards to men, or should be kept at least half a mile away from any rabbits.
Jimmy has done the other particularly male thing and kept his head down when the whole thing blew up and he does not appear to have commented after his Wiki posting.
It seems Jimmy has gotten off lightly so far though. Ms Marsdens’ past includes:
- 1995 - accusation of rape against her then boyfriend, the swimming coach Liam Donnelly. These allegations were unproven
- 2004 - she pleaded guilty to criminal harassment of Michael Morgan after he started seeing another woman and she called all of his family incessantly and rigged his computer to forward all of his emails to her
- She was fired from her job at Fox for being ‘erratic’
- Ms. Marsden accused a former boyfriend, a counterterrorism officer for the Ontario Provincial Police, of leaking secret documents to her, and even posted online X-rated photographs she claimed he had sent her.
So basically, it looks like Jimmy has gotten off lightly so far with just one night and a couple of pieces of clothing up for sale on eBay.
He is coming under renewed pressure for the apparent breach of his own rules for Wikipedia postings, but looking at Rachels’ picture I think he is probably more than happy to let that go provided she doesn’t look at him again.
She does have scary eyes. But then - looking at Jimmy’s picture - maybe there isn’t so many things different between them.
