Archetypal rugger bugger Jeremy Clarkson has found himself at the end of a piece of vigilante action when he was photographed by a
member of the public travelling at the wheel of a 1970s Mercedes Benz at approx 70MPH whilst talking on his mobile ‘phone.
The woman was in a car that was passing him and she took a picture with the camera in her mobile ‘phone which was subsequently passed to the Police.
A spokesman for Thames Valley Police said:
We have been handed the photograph and we will be looking at it with a view to a possible prosecution.
Well - a number of things come to mind here.
- The car was passing Clarkson who was allegedly doing 70MPH. As the speed limit in the UK is a maximum of 70MPH then they will have been speeding…
- Clarkson has a reputation for falling foul of the law as his recent lighting of a pipe (so smoking) in the studio (a place of work or public space) demonstrated
- People do not have enough to do in their lives do they?
- What sort of person reports something like this to the Police?
- Where were the Police cars anyway?
Clearly there is no way that the Police could even contemplate prosecution on the grounds of a mobile phone camera picture (hardly the best quality are they?), but no doubt it will be enough for the BBC to have to release some sort of ‘telling off’ for Clarkson to keep the Daily Mail readers happy.
