As a father I am absolutely all in favour of protecting our kids. The last thing I would want is to put my, or anyone else’s child at risk. The Head Teacher at a Clacton school has gone so far as to make this desire into an absurdity. In his efforts to ‘protect children’ the pupils
faces have been superimposed with bizarre smiley faces on their website.
How simply absurd.
If there is a genuine concern that showing the faces of these children is a potential risk to their safety then simply do not put pictures on the website.
To include pictures where there are such amateurish attempts to disguise their identity simply leaves me breathless with how unutterbly ridiculous some people are.
How does this protect the children?
The answer is straightforward. It doesn’t. It protects the Head from imagined concerns over people complaining that their children’s images have been used without permission.
As such the Head, rather than seeking that permission, includes this frankly frightening coverup of the children’s faces.
What next? All children having to attend school in Burkhas?
I for one would quite happily support this Head having his knuckles severely rapped for being so stupid. Instead he Department of Education appear to be applauding his efforts.
The world is quite simply going gently insane.
