What would any self respecting country do when they have a protest that they don’t agree with?
Well - if you are China and the protest is Tibetan monks who are protesting about the way that you treat their country you send in the troops and teargas them.
I am not a person that has the desire to endlessly berate the Chinese for their civil rights policies. I don’t complain about their apparent disregard for human rights.
I am completely stunned that the Olympics Commission is still convinced that China have sufficiently cleaned up their act to host the Olympics though.
As far as I can see, China still has some particularly Communist views on the way that they treat their own people and those of countries where they have an interest or influence. The manner in which they deal with protests is entirely without regard to anything other than simply ending the protest.
Should the Olympics be held in China?
I guess the answer is why not? They held them in Berlin didn’t they?
