A man carrying a bag has gained access to the Northern Runway at Heathrow. The man was spotted at around 2pm today running
along the runway carrying a bag which has been destroyed in a controlled explosion by bomb disposal experts.
To be fair there is currently no evidence that this man was indeed a terrorist, he may have been one of the eco-terrorists from Greenpeace trying to make one of their ‘points’ again, but the fact remains that an un-authorised individual was in a position to have planted a device that could have killed you, me or 100s of airline passengers.
BAA are responsible for all operations including safety at Heathrow and they have just been permitted to increase their landing charges to airlines.
These fees should, at least in part, keep us safe when we fly.
Last week some eco-mentalists wandered through security to gain access to airside operations, and today this man of unknown motives managed to get further and gain access to a runway.
Are you or someone that you know flying soon? Have you paid more for your ticket than you would have expected?
Call BAA and ask them to guarantee your safety.
