Now I am not one to jump up and down and get excited when Nokia announce a new concept. The main reason is that although I am a fan of their phones (not least of all because the menus approach being intuitive), but they seem to have contracted the same disease that some car manufacturers have for releasing concept after concept that never actually sees the light of day.
As concepts go this has a decent premise. Nano technology enabling a mobile phone to be both super slim and light.
Unfortunately, it all starts to go wrong when the marketing boyos get a hold of it:
“The concept uses a similar principle as spider silk, enabling elasticity in mobile devices so they could be transformed into different shapes to adjust to a specific task. It could involve a folded design to be used in a traditional mobile phone, or a larger unfolded design for displaying more information and involving keyboards and touch pads.“
Oh really?
To be honest I wont be rushing down to Carphone Warehouse in the hopes that they will take a pre-order for a telephone that is made from materials that are trying to synthesise what comes out of an arachnids’ abdomen. I’ll stick with my semi-brick and its’ adequate camera and the key functionality that I need in a telephone….
Caller-ID so I know who to ignore.
I have run out of coffee - fancy buying me one?
