You know that the World is going mad when the US propensity to sue at any given opportunity makes the short flight across the Atlantic Marks & Spencer being suedand lands on our shores.

A London guy is suing Marks & Spencer for a reported £300 000, because he slipped on a grape and has both physically and mentally injured himself.

Alexander Martin-Sklan, 55, from Golders Green in North London apparently tore a tendon in his right leg due to the grape that had become stuck to the bottom of his shoe.

Alexander is claiming general damages and loss of earnings because of his “loss of confidence” due to theGBH Grapes from M&S 2004 accident.

Interestingly this ‘incident’ didn’t even happen inside an M&S store - it happened in the car park.  Obviously M&S are defending the action and are quick to make it clear that they see no culpability.

I completely agree with the stance that M&S are taking.  It is completely ludicrous to think that they are responsible for this persons’ lack of balance and the claim seems to me to be what lawyers call ‘vexatious’ and I truly hope that Mr Martin-Sklan gets pinged for the full amount of M&S costs when he loses his action.

I have run out of coffee - fancy buying me one?
