After watching him for the entire of the last season it came as no surprise to watch Lewis Hamilton find his way to the pole position for the Australian Grand Prix.
What came as a bit more of a surprise was the rest of the grid. Last year BMW were languishing in middle grid positions, and yet today Polish superstar Kubica (and no - I can’t pronounce it either!) lines up his BMW alongside the Hamilton McLaren. Separating them is just 2/10ths of a sec - assuring us that BMW will not be also rans, provided the reliability matches the initial qualifying speed.
Many commentators announced that F1 Grand Prix had died when German Multi-Champion Schumacher retired, but I am more than willing to go on record and state that I believe that F1 has a new Multi-Champion and ambassador in the making and he has one thing that Schumacher never showed us - humility.
Lewis Hamilton - the world of motorsport is placing the future of F1 on your shoulders. I know they are broad enough. Good luck son.
I have run out of coffee - fancy buying me one?
