Nathan Thomas saved his Mum from a knife attacker.
Nathan Thomas is just 9 years old.
Nathan saw Hugh Clark stabbing his mother in their Scottish home and leapt to her defence and received the wounds pictured when Clark maliciously slashed the boy to prevent Nathan defending his mother. Clark admitted attempted murder in court today after hearing evidence of the 8 stab wounds that Mrs Thomas suffered.
Nathan survived the attack with serious facial injuries and his 12 year old sister (Shannon) escaped by jumping from a first floor window.
Nathans’ mother was convinced that she was going to die and remarked at how truly proud she was of both of her children and described how it is highly likely that Nathans’ intervention actually saved her life, and likely the lives of both children.
Scottish commentators have all been quick to express their admiration for a little boy who was obviously terribly afraid, but did not let his fear prevent him taking action.
Scottish first minister Mr Salmand said:
I think the whole chamber would want to join with me in congratulating young Nathan Thomson, who intervened to protect his mother - at nine years old - from a vicious assault
This case is now being reported on despite happening some months ago, as judgement against Mr Clark has been confirmed and sentence passed.
Mr Clark has been told that his sentence for attempted murder and ABH is 8 1/2 years (less time in custody).
He will be eligible for parole in 3years.
